The following sites contain information about medications, including use, side effects and interactions.

  • NeedyMeds.com is a great resource. This regularly updated site provides links, on a drug by drug basis, to pharmaceutical company medication assistance sites, giving program requirements and contact information for patients who can not afford their medications. Most companies have such programs, but they can be hard to find. This site greatly simplifies the task. If you qualify, go here, get the information you need, have the forms sent and we'll do our part to complete them and help you get your medications.

  • FDA Drug Information This site provides basic information about drugs currently marketed, including those recently approved by the FDA, including brand name, ingredients, the date the drug was approved, uses and precautions. Also included is the FDA pamphlet, My Medicines, which includes a medication tracking chart.

  • RxList is a searchable database of information on more than 4,000 drugs, herbs, and homeopathics developed by Neil Sandow, PharmD. It includes pharmaceutical products currently on the US market. Easy-to-read patients summaries are included. RxList provides the trade and generic names, information on how the drug is used, possible drug interactions, contraindications, and adverse reactions. RxList cross-references all drug monographs and can be searched by brand name, generic name or drug category. It also includes the "Top 200 Drugs" prescribed during the previous year.

  • MedlinePlus Health Information From the National Library of Medicine of the National Institutes of Health, this site provides useful information of on a vast number of pharmaceuticals, both prescription and over the counter.

  • Food & Drug Interactions Brochure Potential interactions between commonly prescribed prescription and non-prescription drugs and food, alcohol or caffeine are the focus of this brochure developed by the National Consumer's League. Medications include NSAIDs, beta-blockers, antihistamines, ACE inhibitors, antibiotics, antifungals, and MAO inhibitors. The brochure also includes a brief mention of drug-drug interactions.

  • Pharmaceutical Manufacturer's Association Drugs in Development Database allows you to search for information about drugs currently in development, by disease, indication or drug name. It identifies the proprietary name, generic name, manufacturer, company location, and the status of the drug (eg Phase II or Phase III).
